Common Yellowthroat at Dusk

Sunlight retracts
like a tide...
A blade of prairie grass
arcs
            to
                        the
                                    earth
beneath a black-and-yellow shape.

Witchity, witchity, witchity...

Tiny bandit skulks
through day’s
ending light.
